This typical Mediterranean fish is very important in Piedmont and Liguria cooking.

To conserve it during the winter it has to be salted. Monterosso has always been important for anchovies fishing and a lot of the catch was sent to Piedmont. The route we propose goes through again these itinerary visiting some typical areas of Italian gastronomy.

Day 1
Arrival. Hotel accommodation in Bubbio (AT). Overnight stay.

Day 2
Breakfast. Full day in Langhe area. Following the S.S. 231 you will reach Alba, the most famous village of this area. Following the road south direction you will arrive in Grinzane Cavour. Here begins the hills (Le Langhe). We suggest to visit La Mora, a medieval village with a beautiful view, then Barolo famous for its red wine. Stop in Grinzane Cavour for a wine tasting. Dinneer with typical dishes. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 3
Breakfast. Visit Saluzzo and its gothic cathedral and the San Giovanni church. Not far from here you will find: "Castello della Manta" and the castle of Vicoforte near Mondovi. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 4
After breakfast departure to Monterosso in the National Park of Cinque Terre. Visit the historical centre, "Chiesa Parrocchiale", "Oratorio dei Bianchi e dei Neri" and the church of Capucin Fathers. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 5
Breakfast. Departure from the hotel to Riomaggiore the first of Cinque Terre, you can run through the famous "Via dell'Amore" to Manarola, by train to Vernazza the most picturesque village of Cinque Terre. If you are good walkers, we suggest to walk back to Monterosso following pathway number 2, it takes about 2 hours but is a really beautiful experience to be done. Walking up and down you will get wonderful views of this typical Mediterranean background. Dinner with typical dishes. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6
Breakfast. Departure from the hotel to Portovenere by boat along all the Cinque Terre coast. In Portovenere you can visit the famous San Pietro church, from here you have a beautiful view to island Pamaria. Returning back to Monterosso by boat you can make a stop in one of the other Cinque Terre village. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 7
After breakfast departure, end of service.
