The Hotel Barchetta Excelsior is one of the most important properties belonging to the hospitality tradition of Como. The town of Como, situated on the lake front and surrounded by green mountains enjoys a mild climate all year round. It's a modern building with 84 rooms in 5 floors, mostly with lake view and all with elegant furnishing and complements in Como silk. The Standard rooms are wide and comfortable as well as silent and therefore appreciated by clients who look for peace and relaxation. Some of the rooms located on the top floor offer a nice view of the Cathedral.
The two restaurants propose Mediterranean, regional, and local dishes, which are all accompanied by a rich wine list selected by the hotel sommelier. The “Barchetta” restaurant, renowned since 1893 for its fine cuisine, is also open to guests not staying in the hotel. Located on the first floor facing the main square and the lake, the Barchetta is the ideal place both for a candlelight dinner and for business meetings and banquets. The wide range of the menu includes Mediterranean, regional and local dishes, as well as vegetarian alternatives and menus customized according to the client’s demand. Located on the ground floor, the” Bistro” is recommended for informal luncheons. As in the main restaurant, great attention is paid to clients, according the company philosophy. In the summertime, the Bistro opens its terrace facing the main square and becomes a meeting point to sample the long drinks, the cocktails and the after dinner drinks concocted by the hotel’s barman.
The American Bar is a meeting place for those who love the tasting of vintage wines and liqueurs suggested by the experienced hotel barman. During the year” afternoon tea” is enjoyed with guided tasting of the finest flavored infusions and hot chocolate, all accompanied by a selection of pastries. The American bar also offers a ”happy hour” with drinks accompanied by a wide selection of hot and cold snacks and canapés.
The outskirts of Como house seven 18-hole golf courses within a range of 20 kilometers. To name but a few: the historic Golf Club Villa d'Este, on the shores of the small Lake of Montorfano; the courses of Carimate and Monticello, where international tournaments take place; the Menaggio Golf Club, which enjoys a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
