Amalfi Drive (Full Day)

Campania/Sorrento

The Amalfi coast offers one of the most fascinating landscapes in the world.  It will make an impression on your heart and in your memory when you see these breathtaking views. This beautiful area of a natural diversity is protected by UNESCO.

Depart Sorrento by coach and head towards the Amalfi coastal road, one of the most stunning coastal drives in Europe. The scenery is superb as you look out over the Mediterranean and along the coastline as the road twists and turns its way towards the town of Positano (approx. 20 minutes from Sorrento). The town is built on a mountain side and from the main road all the way down to sea level it gives the appearance of a waterfall of buildings cascading down to the sea. The coach is not permitted to stop here so guests will have time only to enjoy the views and take photos from the bus (approx 10 minutes).
This spectacular journey continues with fabulous views all the way to Amalfi (approximately 1 hour). Guests have 2 hours of free time in Amalfi where it will be possible to take a guided boat trip along the coast depending on availability and weather conditions. Guests can also visit the magnificent 9th century Cathedral which proudly dominates the main square of Amalfi. Then wander through the narrow streets of the town and browse the many shops and enjoy coffee in one of the cafes around Amalfi.
The excursion carries on to Ravello which is situated on the hillside above Amalfi. This is where Wagner was inspired to write part of one of his operas and it is from here that you can enjoy the best views of the Amalfi coastline overlooking Minori, Maiori and beyond. This quaint little town has a main square and the centerpiece is a bright picturesque 11th century cathedral. Another option is to visit Villa Rufolo with its gardens and wonderful views. For the journey back to Sorrento we head over the hills taking the motorway to Castellammare and then back along the coastal road to Sorrento. Driving restriction apply when you return along the Amalfi Drive. The return is estimated to be between 4:30pm and 5:30pm approximately.

Optional extra costs:
– Guided Boat ride along the coast
– Cathedral (including museums)
– Villa Rufolo Gardens
– Museums in Ravello and church
