HISTORY

1500: The building is seen in the famous “bird’s eye map of the city”by Jacopo de Barbari.
1690: Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741 ) gives music lessons and composes his finest masterpieces.
1895: Sigmund Freud is amongst its guests.
1900: Marcel Proust is amongst its guests
1901: Thomas Mann and his brother are amongst its guests
1968: Control of the hotel passes to the Beggiato family, who start a long restoration.
1990: The Metropole expands with the acquisition of the garden with the old well and the north wing where 10 new rooms are created.
2000: Drawing with the originality and discrimination on the latest international trends and innovations, the daughter Gloria Beggiato gives the Hotel a new look, introducing to the Metropole’s style and aesthetic an element of mystery and an oriental elegance.

VIEW AND TERRACESAway from the crowd, along Riva degli Schiavoni, the Metropole stands in the heart of an amazing view, exactly where the Grand Canal flows into Bacino S. Marco.
From the glittering of the lagoon, to the marvelous S. Giorgio Island, from the thrilling and spectacular  view over the roofs or the luxuriant private garden, or on the nearby calle and the Rio della Pietà. Wherever your eyes look, they embrace the city and its lagoon.
You can enjoy this view from the windows of the rooms facing the lagoon or from the elegant private terraces where you can live unforgettable moments. From the breakfast in the morning sun to the candle-lighted dinner surrounded by a magic light that falls on an incredible city.

CLASSIC DOUBLE ROOMS:are intimate and comfortable, furnished in a more classic style, and very welcoming.
In such a context, the classic double rooms remind the ancient Venice’s typical furnishing, made of simplicity and good taste.
As no two rooms in the Metropole are the same, every classic double room is different. The walls are covered with fabrics in shades of red and cream and decorated with period prints or fans belonging to the hotel's private collection.
Elegant Venetian fabrics have been used for the bedspreads and supersoft cushions, and the rooms are furnished with original pieces from various periods.
Classic double rooms look out over the hotel's internal courtyard garden, the Rio della Pieta canal, or the calle.

DELUXE DOUBLE ROOMS All Deluxe double rooms are particularly refined and valuable, and are different from each other in style, concept and furniture.
The rooms have precious period furnishing: from original Renaissance and Liberty-style, to Art Deco and the more recent sixties style and bianco design as well as a slightly exotic style
As well as a splendid interior, some of the Deluxe double rooms enjoy spectacular views over the city thanks to private terraces

GOOD MORNING BREAKFAST Breakfast is a rite, and for someone is even a sacred moment.
Whit this philosophy, the attention the Metropole Hotel offers to its guests start from early morning, with a delicious smell of coffee, the most inebriating senses awakening…
A real provocation to which you can easily yield, the "bread" buffet, a rich variety of small whole meal rolls, sweet ring-shaped cakes, currant buns and croissants served fresh from the oven.
Fresh and inviting, the "fruit" buffet includes fresh fruit salad, yogurt with almonds, honey and banana, fruit marmalades, and sliced fresh fruit, every type of cereal.
