LOCATION AND TERRITORY
Veneto is a region in northeastern Italy. From the rocky foothills of the Dolomites to the fertile valleys of the Po River, Veneto has a diverse geography that makes it a fascinating area to discover. The mountains of Veneto have a rare beauty. The majestic Dolomites, seen from Cortina D’Ampezzo, the famous holiday resort in the province of Belluno, are a fabulous spectacle. ACTIVITIES
Wellbeing and relaxing Among the numerous treatments offered by the thermal complexes, there is pelotherapy, a field in which Venetian spas are undoubtedly the leaders, taking advantage of an ancient tradition. Bath therapy is a treatment that simply consists in taking a bath in individual tubs or swimming pools filled with warm thermal water, either as it springs out of the ground or mountain or with the addition of ozone to increase its beneficial properties. The bubbles in the water gently massage your body, thus stimulating and activating the blood flow in the skin with an intense vasodilatation action.
There are many destinations for treatments and wellbeing, like Abano, Montegrotto and Recoaro.
Winter sports The Venetian mountains are a paradise for winter sports lovers. Hundreds of kilometers of equipped slopes for all ski disciplines, even the most extreme. Mountain biking, trekking at a range of difficulty levels, gliding, paragliding, climbing, and free climbing It’s possible to practice all these kind of sports in the wide mountain territory of Veneto, like Monte Baldo and Dolomites.

The itinerary can be done in one or more days; it is worth spending the night to experience the beauty of these utterly peaceful areas, maybe taking the time to visit some wineries.

WHAT TO VISIT
Verona Its historical centre boasts many magnificent Roman ruins: the monument for which Verona is famous in the entire world is its Roman Arena. It dates back to the 1st century A.D. to hold various events and wrestling matches and where every summer takes place spectacular open-air operas and concerts. The Arena not has to be confused with the Roman Theatre, which stood in front of Ponte Postumio, spreading its ample arch of stepped seating on the side of the hill behind, is still used today for summer theatrical events. The name of Verona is also known throughout the world because of Shakespeare's tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. The places where, according to the tradition, the two young lovers lived and died are visited by thousands of tourists and lovers every year. Only a few paces from Piazza Erbe, at number 27 of Via Cappello, there is the Juliet's House (La Casa di Giulietta), once owned by the Dal Cappello, or Capulet, family. A small marble balcony records the most famous verses of Shakespeare's tragedy, in which Romeo declares his love for Juliet as she stands on the balcony. Again according to the legend, this was the house where the beautiful Juliet the most famous of all Shakespeare's heroines, lived.
Venice Venice is a magical city par excellence, one of the most scenic and extraordinary where history and art reflect in the peaceful water of the Lagoon. So much has been written about Venice that it seems superfluous to remember that it has been named by UNESCO as being a site of important human heritage not only for its artistic wealth, but also for its extraordinary co-existence of the activity of mankind and its natural situation on the Lagoon. A unique specimen, therefore, as its destiny has been forever linked to water: that of the lagoon and the sea. Every island has been wrenched apart by the water's devastating and hidden force and the initially hostile environment has since been taken into account, respected and modeled judiciously. Thanks to the sea, Venetians have made up for the lack of cultivable land and raw materials with the fleet, born as a means of subsistence, has been transformed into a source of power and wealth.

Padova (Padua) Its University, one of the oldest in Europe, had the exceptional professor, Galileo Galilei, among its staff in 1492. A few years later in 1501, Copernicus - the father of one of the greatest scientific revolutions - enrolled at the university. The Basilica of St. Anthony is a highly important place of worship where every year thousands of pilgrims arrive to revere the remains of the world's most loved Saint. Padua is wonderful to visit calmly without hurry, walking around the streets in the centre, admiring the architectural jewels that have enriched the city over time.
These are jewels of Romanesque, Renaissance, and Neo-classical art.
Above all there is the Cappella degli Scrovegni, which preserves one of the most important fresco cycles by Giotto within its walls, realized between 1305 and 1306. It has recently been restored.
Bassano del Grappa One of the most characteristic places in Veneto, its historical centre is a series of alleyways, small squares, arcades, frescoed houses, and Renaissance palaces. The monumental symbol is the Ponte degli Alpini, built on the plans of Andrea Palladio, it has been destroyed and rebuilt on many occasions. The medieval centre develops around the three squares: Monte Vecchio, Libertà, and Garibaldi. It is characterized by a series of sacred and civil buildings noted for their Venetian style. Valued examples are the Villa Bianchi Michiel, whose Doric portico was built on the plans by Palladio, and the majestic Villa Rezzonico-Borella.
Treviso Ancient Venetian walls still surround the city, and Treviso maintains the valuable monumental, historical, and artistic heritage of its past with its taste of the medieval.
There are the elegant palaces in Piazza dei Signori. Among the most striking is the Palazzo dei Trecento, a 13th century building and the city's most symbolic monument of the city. The architecture of the churches is also much valued. Among these, there is the Cathedral, an ample complex with its striking Neo-classical façade, the Domenican church of S. Nicolò, and the church of Santa Caterina, where one can appreciate the amazing frescoes of the History of Sant'Orsola, of Tomaso da Modena. Walking around the historical centre of Treviso, one is enchanted in front of Casa dei Carraresi, with its sombre Romanesque façade and the elegant mullioned windows with two and three lights, now the home of important exhibitions on an international level. A short distance away, there is the Loggia dei Cavalieri, a unique four-sided construction with six arches on three sides, leaning on slender columns and capitals in live stone. Treviso is much celebrated for its frescoes. The façades of medieval houses have characteristic geometric patterns, with false tapestries or false bricks, or figurative compositions with sacred, allegorical or mythological subjects.
Asolo Artists and literary figures from all over Europe have always visited Asolo. It has also been painted by Giorgione. Among this visitors are: Giosuè Carducci, who called 'the city of a hundred horizons'; the English poet, Robert Browning; the musician, Gian Francesco Malipiero, who found inspiration for some of his compositions. Eleonora Duse, the famous actress and Gabriele D'Annunzio's lover, spent the last years of her life here in an elegant mansion. The centre of Asolo is medieval with porticoed streets, frescoed houses, and workshop. The cathedral stands out among the religious buildings, cherished for its paintings by Lorenzo Lotto and di Jacopo da Bassano. From Piazza Maggiore, famous for its frescoed façade of the Loggia del Capitano, one's attention is lost in the mesmerizing scene.

The variations between climates are influenced by the particular morphology. Continental on the plains, the climate is milder along the Adriatic coast, around Lake Garda and in the open hilly areas. Winters are often harsh everywhere due to northeasterly winds: in the mountains, temperatures can be very low, as low as -35/-30°C; the coastline, with Venice and just to a few kilometers from the sea, is slightly milder than the inner plain, but often covered by thick fog as the central and southern plain; snow is usually abundant in the mountains, where on the highest pikes it may fall even during mid summer, less frequent but not unusual at plain.
