The Year of Roberto Burri in Italy and beyond

Roberto Burri  would have celebrated his 100th birthday on March 12, 2015.   The great informal artist who, thru his lifelong searching on poorest materials – like Jute bags, plastic and tar left a very important contribution to the international artistic panorama of the second world war. The whole year 2015 will be a celebration for the artist, with meetings, conferences and exhibitions dedicated to him and to his works. The Heart of the these celebrations is Città di Castello, his hometown that he choose to be the place of election to keep and show most of his works

Other engagements all over Italy and outside Italy in the places where Burri left important signs of his artistic researches. From Gibellina, in Sicily, where the Gran Cretto will be finally concluded to Milan for the rebuilt of his “Teatro Continuo” and to New York where , since last October a great Exhibition of his retrospective is taking place at the Guggenheim Museum.

Roberto Burri’s education was at the Univeristy of Perugia.

Roberto died on February 13, 1995 in Nice, France.
