Culinary Tour of Sardinia

Day 1 – Alghero

Arrive at the airport in Alghero or Olbia (optional). Pick up you car. Transfer to Alghero and time at disposal for the visit of this beautiful town on the sea in the west coast. In the afternoon, olive oil and wine tasting in a farm just outside Alghero. Evening: check-in at Country Hotel 4* in Alghero region and overnight.

Day 2 – Bosa – Santu Lussurgiu – Cagliari

In the morning, you will drive through the panoramic coastal road to the town of Bosa, beautiful town on the Temo River. Lunch in the town of Santu Lussurgiu for a culinary experience based on the “Casizolu” cheese and the “Bue Rosso” meat. In the afternoon, drive south and reach the city of Cagliari. Overnight in 4* Hotel in Cagliari old town center.

Day 3 – Cagliari

In the morning, time at disposal for discovering Cagliari, ancient town and capital of Sardinia. Recommended visit to the Castle, the Cathedral and the historical districts. Lunch: Gourmet seafood lunch in local restaurant, Cagliari city center. Afternoon: Time to explore the southern coast of Sardinia with its beautiful panoramas: it can be to Pula and Chia or to Villasimius, the panoramic roads are stunning! Overnight: 4* Hotel in Cagliari old town center.

Day 4 – Serdiana – Barumini – Abbasanta

In the morning, check out and visit of the Argiolas winery in Serdiana, and enjoy a full scale tasting of the most typical Sardinian wines. In the afternoon we suggest a visit of the Nuragic site in Barumini, UNESCO world heritage site dating from the II millennium BC. It is a magnificent fortress with megalithic towers surrounded by a village. After the visit, drive to Abbasanta for check-in at accommodation. Overnight: Country Hotel 4* in Abbasanta region.

Day 5 – Nuoro – Bitti – Arzachena

After check-out from accommodation drive through the mountains of Central Sardinia. Reach Nuoro, the main town in the area, and visit the Etnographic museum before reaching Bitti for a tasting of local organic products including fresh and age “Pecorino” cheese, a staple of Sardinian cuisine. Afternoon, drive to Gallura region, in the northern Sardinia. Overnight: Charming Agriturismo in Arzachena region.

Day 6 – La Maddalena – Caprera – Porto Cervo – Arzachena

In the morning we recommend to drive to Palau and board the ferry to the islands of La Maddalena and Caprera. The archipelago of La Maddalena with its beautiful islands is a protected natural reserve, which is a must see in Sardinia. The island of Caprera is famous for its beauty and for being the last place visited by Giuseppe Garibaldi. Here you can still visit Garibaldi’s tomb. In the afternoon back to the mainland for a nice stroll in the Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda) and the town of Porto Cervo. Spend the night in the Arzachena area.

Day 7 – Aggius/Tempio Pausania – Arzachena

In the morning leave Arzachena and drive to the Surrau wineries, the most beautiful of Northern Sardinia. Here you will taste different local wines, including the traditional “Vermentino” white wine. In the afternoon, enjoy the so called Moon Valley, a rocky valley with a moon like landscape, and the villages of Aggius or Tempio Pausania built in local granite stone. Dinner and overnight in a nice and charming agriturismo in the area of Arzachena.

Day 8 – Alghero/Olbia

Check out and drive to the airport (Alghero or Olbia). Drop off your car and say goodbye to the beautiful land of Sardinia
